McCaffery Vs. Wieskamp

Story by Cody Pech

Des Moines, IA – Future Hawkeye teammates Joe Wieskamp (Muscatine) and Patrick McCaffery (Iowa City West) squared off in the quarterfinals of the Iowa High School State Basketball Tournament tonight in Des Moines. Off the court the two are close friends, but tonight it was win or go home, and unfortunately for Joe and his Muskies, the end result was a season ending loss to Iowa City West.

Both guys played a great game. It’s clear why the Hawkeyes are so high on them. Wieskamp finished with 29 points and McCaffery had 17. Iowa City West finished the game with a strong fourth quarter after Muscatine had clawed their way back into it in the third.

The #1 seeded Trojans will move on to face the winner of the #4 Johnston / #5 Waukee game that tips off shortly. Muscatine finishes their season 16-9. Wieskamp will go down as one of the top scorers in Iowa High School basketball history.

We might as well throw in a quick roasting of this Twitter tough guy who clearly has ZERO idea what he’s talking about. Wieskamp is going to be proving him wrong in the near future.
