Iowa clinched the weekend series with UAB with a dominating 11-3 victory today. Iowa’s offense erupted late in the game scoring two in the 6th, and three in the 8th and 9th innings. The offense was led by Robert Neustrom (2-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 2 walks, 9 game hitting streak), Tyler Cropley (2-4, 1 run, 3 RBIs, 1 walk), and Mitch Boe (2-3 2 runs scored).
Brady Schanuel earned his second win of the year, improving to 2-1, by pitching five shutout innings, allowing just one hit, striking out seven, though he did allow four walks. The bullpen uncharacteristically allowed three runs. Trenton Wallace allowed his first run of the season, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings and striking out four. Nick Nelsen came in and got one strikeout. Ben Probst pitched the 9th inning, giving up two runs, only one was earned.
Iowa improves to 8-1 on the season, and will look to sweep UAB tomorrow afternoon. First pitch at noon, with Cole McDonald on the mound for the Hawkeyes.
