Iowa City, IA – It was a drama free home opener for the Hawkeyes, defeating Cornell College 15-1 to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Iowa had a very balanced offensive display, as all fourteen batters that stepped to the plate had either a hit, a run, or an RBI. Brett McCleary was the lone batter with multiple hits, going 2-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Iowa also employed several pitches, as Trenton Wallace, Shane Ritter, Jack Dreyer, Derek Lieurances, Cole Kampan, Grant Leonard, and Ben Probst limited Cornell to just 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 12. Trenton Wallace earned his first win. Several Hawkeyes made their debuts today, including Zion Pettigrew, Lieurance, and Kampan.

The Hawkeyes are back in action for a three game series in Birmingham against UAB. First game starts Friday at 4pm.
