Interview With Jeff Pearlman- Hawkeye Heaven Podcast #29

Story by Derek Pech

Des Moines, Iowa – It’s a Hawkeye state! I know, I know, it always was and it always will be, but it’s always great when the Hawkeyes dominate the Cyclones like they did a week ago.

Anyways, on the 29th episode of the Hawkeye Heaven podcast we welcomed in big time sportswriter Jeff Pearlman as our guest. Jeff is an excellent interview and offers a unique perspective on damn near everything he talks about. Plus he’s an incredibly talented writer and the guy knows his sports.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Jeff Pearlman, he was a long time writer for Sports Illustrated, and is the author of several high profile athletes biographies including Brett Favre, Walter Payton, and Roger Clemens. He’s also written books about the dominance of the Lakers in the 1980’s and the glory days of the Dallas Cowboys. His latest book, Football for a Buck, tells the outrageous story of the rise and fall of the United States Football League, or the USFL.

You can find Jeff’s new book on the USFL at Amazon RIGHT HERE!

Besides our interview with Jeff, Trent and I gave our thoughts on the battle that was this years’ Cy-Hawk football game, the dominance of the Iowa defense, and the struggles of the Iowa offense. Then we take a second to look ahead at UNI and Wisconsin.

Hope you enjoy this one Hawk fans. Special thank you Jeff Pearlman for joining us!
