Des Moines, IA – It’s State Fair time! This week Trent and I did our podcast segments live from the center of all the mayhem just outside of the Varied Industries Building. In this week’s episode we were also lucky to have an outstanding conversation with former Hawkeye football player Derek Pagel. Both Trent and I agree that this is one of the best, if not the best podcasts we’ve done yet. Pagel was an excellent interview.
We start off the podcast by discussing the doom and gloom around Hawkeye football these past few weeks thanks to the off the field issues that have seemingly multiplied. Then we share our thoughts on what these suspensions mean for the opening game against a pesky Northern Illinois football team.
Then we welcome in former Hawkeye and NFL safety Derek Pagel for one our favorite interviews yet. Pagel discusses what it was like to be a part of the Iowa program during the transition from Hayden Fry to Kirk Ferentz. He shares some of his favorite memories, and discusses what it was like to play alongside the freak of nature that was Bob Sanders. You’re gonna love this interview Hawk fans, and our team at Hawkeye Heaven is going to do our best to keep Pagel as a regular on the podcast.
Special thanks to Derek Pagel for joining us this week. Also, Pagel is the author of a book called Growing Up Hawkeye. It’s been out for awhile so you may well own it already. If not, you can pick up a copy for yourself by clicking RIGHT HERE!
Enjoy the podcast and have a good week! Go Hawks!
