Hawks 4-0, First Time Since 2006

Altoona, IA – Recap: Another dramatic victory for the Hawkeyes baseball team. This time they took advantage of a Virginia Tech error to score the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

Freshman Kace Massner made his Iowa debut, pinch running in the 10th inning. He stole second and the scored the winning run. Iowa’s offense was led by Kyle Crowl (1-4 with a solo home run) and Robert Neustrom (2-4).

The pitching was again very solid. Nick Allgeyer pitched 7 innings allowing just one run on five hits while striking out 8. Zach Daniels pitched 3 innings of shutout ball out of the bullpen to earn the victory.

Iowa advances to 4-0 for the first time since 2006, and is back in action tomorrow at 6 pm against Ball State, with Brady Schanuel pitching for Iowa.
