The University of Iowa football team is showing signs of life on the recruiting trail. This time it comes at perhaps the team’s biggest position of need. On Wednesday night Calvin Lockett, a three star wide receiver out of Largo, Florida announced his commitment to play for the Hawkeyes on Twitter.

Lockett is a big commitment for Iowa because the team is searching for playmakers at the wide receiver position. It appears they may have received a little help in his recruitment from former Hawkeye defensive back Marcus Paschal. Paschal is currently Lockett’s head coach at Largo High School.
Lockett stands at 6’2 and weighs 170 lbs. He enjoyed a breakout junior season. It appears he has the tools to become a much needed threat on the outside for the Hawks. Lockett is ranked in the 247Composite as the 136th best Wide Receiver nationally. He held offers from in-state Central Florida, Florida International and South Florida as well as Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Wisconsin from the Big Ten.
